Seating Arrangements

Entering:
1. Patience is a virtue.
For those of you who hear a gun-shot as soon as the lecture hall doors swing open may I remind you that entering a lecture hall is NOT equivalent to running the 100 m dash. There is no finish line, nor is there a prize for the individual who sits down first, accordingly, there is no need to 'rush ' the class whose lecture has recently terminated.
2. Save it for later.
It is important to keep in mind that while mounting the stairs there are in fact people behind you. Do not see the stair-climb as an opportune moment to get caught-up with an old friend.
I would also like to speak out against hand-holding while climbing...this isn't a game of red-rover people!
Sitting:
Do NOT ask the question, "Can I sit here?" if:
there is a book-bag/coat on the chair (the obvious statement being made here is- I am saving this seat for a friend and I am not interested in making more so, NO, you can not sit on my bag!)
there are plenty of empty seats in that very same row (trust me, very few people will be offended if you chose to give them personal space over sitting directly beside them)
Note: If you are one of the first to be seated do NOT set up camp at the end of the row and then roll your eyes when someone asks you to get up so that they can occupy one of the 50 seats you are currently blocking.
Exiting:
Clarification: Contrary to common belief, DISMISSED is not synonymous with FIRE. When exiting the lecture hall please remain calm and file out in an orderly fashion. |
